NBS Conducts the First Remote IPO on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, Broadcast Live

NBS Communications, an agency specializing in corporate communication, financial PR, and investor relations, delivered the first remote IPO in the history of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, streamed live online. On 17 April 2020, Games Operators—a video game developer and publisher—joined the group of publicly listed companies. Due to restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, the debut ceremony was organized remotely from four different locations, in line with social distancing rules.

The event was broadcast live on YouTube.

“By mid-March, it was almost certain that the traditional debut ceremony at the Warsaw Stock Exchange headquarters would not take place. Therefore, we proposed to both the WSE and our client, Games Operators, that the event be organized fully online and broadcast live. The idea was immediately accepted by all parties, and the WSE additionally made its YouTube channel available for the broadcast,” says Piotr Wojtaszek, CEO of NBS Communications. “We wanted investors who had invested in Games Operators shares to be able to participate in this important moment for the company and its shareholders—the stock market debut. This was made possible, among other things, thanks to the television experience of our team members. NBS fully organized and executed the broadcast,” he adds.

From the very first minute of trading, investors were able, among other things, to follow the price movements of the company’s subscription rights and watch short live connections with key participants of the event. Marek Dietl, CEO of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, welcomed viewers directly from the trading floor and then rang the bell, in keeping with stock exchange tradition. Meanwhile, Bartek Gajewski, CEO of Games Operators, and Arkadiusz Bociąga, representing the Offering Agent—Santander Brokerage House—joined the broadcast from their homes, where they had been working remotely in recent weeks. Commentary on the capital market during the pandemic was also provided by Artur Soboń, Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets.

The development of technology and access to increasingly advanced applications allow us to offer our clients solutions that just a few years ago would have required significant resources and the work of a large team. Today, we delivered the IPO broadcast remotely while fully complying with all safety rules and restrictions resulting from the ongoing epidemic,” says Piotr Wojtaszek.
