Apollo: Missions to the Moon – National Geographic
The 50th anniversary of the first manned Moon landing was cause for celebration. The National Geographic channel marked it with a special thematic block of space programming and the premiere of the film Apollo: Missions to the Moon. To allow viewers to examine the Moon not only on their TV screens, we invited them to an outdoor event.
On 17 June 2019, the brightest night of the year, we gathered on the Vistula with Karol Wójcicki, a popular science figure known from the channel “Head in the Stars,” and a large group of astronomy buffs. The aim was to observe the Moon through the world’s largest mass-produced telescope.
The participants’ amazement spoke for itself. We may not have matched the achievements of the Apollo 11 crew, but we could see the Moon almost as nearly.
